Human Rights Council

President
Jonathan Shih
Fellow delegates, welcome to the KMUN I! I’m Jonathan Shih, a junior at Pacific American School in Hsinchu. It is an honor to serve as your president of the Human Rights Council (HRC) this year. KMUN will be my 19th conference and my 8th time chairing. For me, MUN is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding activities, as it combines the thrill of debate, the challenge of problem-solving, and the joy of representing diverse perspectives on a global stage. My journey into MUN began with a simple nudge from a friend. What started as a casual suggestion has blossomed into a passion that has profoundly enriched my academic and personal life. After attending my first MUN conference in 7th grade, I slowly discovered that MUN has not only perfected my public speaking and negotiation skills but also deepened my understanding of international relations and the complexities of world politics.
Whether you are an experienced delegate or a first-timer, I strongly encourage everyone to be very active and not be afraid of approaching the podium. I also recommend experienced delegates to help out those first-timers in order to have a very smooth and enjoyable debate.
Here are some fun facts about myself. Besides MUN, I also enjoy watching baseball, F1, and planespotting. Lastly, I hope this year’s KMUN will be memorable to all, and hopefully, this conference will motivate you to enjoy MUN! Please don’t hesitate to contact me for any questions or concerns!

President
Ashley Tan
Hi everyone!
My name is Ashley, and I’m currently a sophomore at Kaohsiung American School. I’m incredibly honored to serve as the Head Chair of GA3 at KMUN 2026! This will be my 12th conference and my 4th time chairing. My MUN journey wasn’t easy at first, I remember being too nervous to speak during my first few conferences. However, as I attended more conferences, I gradually became more confident, understood the procedures better, and truly started to enjoy the experience. I even remember feeling disappointed when conferences ended because I didn’t want them to be over!
To me, the most rewarding part of MUN is seeing delegates getting out of their comfort zones throughout the conference, and I’m looking forward to playing a part in that. My hobbies include theatre, dancing, and watching shows.
My Instagram handle is @ashvelli_, so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out! Aside from that, I'm excited to meet all of you in February and watch engaging (maybe even controversial) debates unfold!

Deputy President
Melody Tan
Greetings, delegates!
My name is Melody Tan., and I am currently a junior at Kaohsiung American School. It is a great honor to serve as your deputy chair for this KMUN conference.
My MUN journey began several years ago, and throughout that time, I’ve grown to appreciate how MUN pushes us to build compelling arguments, collaborate with others, and think critically about global and diplomatic issues. Conferences have become a space where I not only challenge myself but also connect with passionate, like-minded delegates all around.
Outside of MUN, I enjoy dancing, baking, running, photography, reading, and watching Gossip Girl. Please don’t hesitate to come up to me if you have any questions or concerns during the conference! Looking forward to seeing all of you!
