Security Council 2 (MS)

President
Sophia Chen
Hello, delegates! Welcome to Security Council 2! My name is Sophia Chen, a current sophomore from Kaohsiung American School, and it is my utmost honor to serve as the president of the Security Council 2 for this year's KMUN. This will be my twelfth conference overall and my fifth time chairing. Additionally, aside from MUN, I enjoy watching F1 and tennis.
MUN has played a significant role in my life; it connects people together, some of whom you would never have met otherwise. MUN isn’t just about drafting resolutions, making speeches, and arguing in debate; it’s also where you build friendships, meet new people with the same passion, and gain new things along the way, discovering your identity. Whether this is your first conference or one of many, I hope to help spark or discover your passion for MUN.
I will be focusing on Issue 802, "The Question of Water Scarcity and Transboundary Water Disputes." Feel free to reach out to me via email (yanche28@kas.tw) or through Instagram (@7.ph1a_). I hope you will all see KMUN as a memorable opportunity and an enjoyable experience. Looking forward to seeing you all in February!

Deputy President
Zara Cowie
Hello delegates, welcome to Security Council 2 (MS)! My name is Zara Anne Cowie, and I am currently an eighth grader at Kaohsiung American School. It is an honor to serve as your Deputy President/Chair of Security Council 2 for KMUN I this year. KMUN will mark my eighth conference and my first time chairing!
I joined Model United Nations (MUN) in 6th grade, after scrolling through the endless list of after-school activities, one of many descriptions spoke to me, like a magnet to metal. The idea of speaking from a delegate’s perspective was fascinating to me; little did I know this was the door of opportunity, and what would become something so significant to me today.
Ever since, MUN has taken over a portion of my life. MUN has taught me to look into different worldviews, confidence, and empathy. It has kept me informed on current issues and given way into problem-solving towards these conflicts. I can still visualize my first conference; it was actually here at KAS. My science classroom turned into a committee room full of people older and experienced. I was so nervous and was struggling to keep up. However, I’ve grown more confident and stronger in debate, and that first experience was a major part of my progression. Therefore, I hope KMUN will be as memorable for you guys as it was for me!
Besides MUN, I have many hobbies which include: reading, painting, writing, sailing, diving/snorkeling, photography, playing music ( I play drums and bass ), and much more! Also, I’m a major theatre lover! If you have any questions or need help during the conference, feel free to reach out! See you soon!
Best regards,
Zara.
